OsageCowboy Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 What are the chances that the team decides to build a naval aircraft-based sim after the release of Black Shark? It seems like a lot of the necessary modeling for that has already been done, and it would be an incredible experience for sure. My apologies if this is a topic that's been hit on ad naseum, but I was curious as to what the prospects are for such a thing.
golfsierra2 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 AFAIK the next sim under development will be "Tank Killer" - go figure.... kind regards, Raven.... [sigpic]http://www.crc-mindreader.de/CRT/images/Birds2011.gif[/sigpic]

Information on the Hornet, although becoming available, is still a little too thin right now . . . . Besides, as far as we know at the moment, the current plans are: Black Shark - Ka50 Tank Killers - upgraded sim from Black Shark in unspecified ways, assume more in the way of detailed modelling for the mudmovers. I've seen the Ka50 modelling up close, and if the other flyables get moved up to that level . . . . oh boy . . . . *Un-named next project* - highly detailed F-16 sim, potentially with MiG29M as well. My personal guess is that the above plan will take an absolute minimum of five years. (no inside information at play here, it's just a guess, don't take it too seriously) Over which time plans could change. It's possible in the long run . . . . and a large number of us would just love to see it . . . but it's not a declared goal, and it will be some time before we know for sure where ED are really taking this sim after Black Shark. . . . . it WOULD kick arse, though . . . . ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

I know I would really love to see them do this for obvious reasons but the team seems to set on front line AtG at present... There's been a lot of communication from them in the past regarding this aspect.. But the future is not certain  So eventually this might come to pass.. But as you mentioned about most of the work being done already I'm inclined not to agree with you there. The ship weapons systems need a lot of work as well as a lot further development of Naval Aircraft.... And there also a need to develop a new map to enable the aircraft carriers to operate in open water.... so if it does happen it will be after the present plans have implemented... It could happen but not for perhaps in a few years ??? ~S~ Blaze intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
EricJ Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I agree with the weapons modelling, but considering that there's only one current naval aircraft, the Su-33, there probably won't be much more development. Course this is just my two cents. Homepage | Discord | Linktree | YouTube 'Nearly everyone felt the need to express their views on all wars to me, starting with mine.
