version 1.5.7 Beta install - which user folder should it use?

I download 1.5 beta installer, install it.

from here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/

 

I run 1.5.7 beta which folder should it use to store info?

 

choices are

C:\Users\<my username>\Saved Games\DCS

or

C:\Users\<my username>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta

 

For some reason it uses

C:\Users\<my username>\Saved Games\DCS

all builds are separate ( just to be clear, dont install the game in the saved games folder )

 

Once installed it uses the saved games location for settings

 

it should use C:\Users\<my username>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta

 

if it is not usual it is due to the install being changed by command line to a different build

 

if you want it to use a different folder for saved games you can add a txt file called

 

dcs_variant.txt in your DCS root folder, and inside on the first line you can name the folder you want it to create and use example: DCS.openbeta

Thanks for replying

 

I did a completely freah install using the beta installer as linked to my first post

 

There must be something wrong with it because the beta installer did not create the dcs_variant.txt file in the root install folder

 

I even tried a manual

DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta

to try and force it , but still the dcs_variant.txt was not created

 

I ended up creating dcs_variant.txt manually and ran the game

which ended up with a folder called DCSDCS.openbeta being created

changed contents of file to

openbeta

 

And all is well , thanks for the help
