I was searching the threads for US Army Sky Soldiers and this thread came up.

Very interesting info :)

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Wrong, those aircraft -do- have defensive measures. Stealth is layer #1 in defense,...

...The B-2 is built to penetrate Soviet airspace and nuke things. It goes places where stand-off jammer aircraft don't have the fuel to go ... and yes it has 'regular' countermeasures...

They have regular countermeasure? ha, did know that.

They have ECM, they have expendables (chaff, flare) they probably have towed decoys as well. They WANT that plane to get to its target.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

One obvious mistake that US pilot made was weapons bay testing. Each and every F-117A has to perform check of those parts if pilot intends to launch GBU's. This guy did it too late and over SAM controlled airspace.

Very unlikely

I'm not saying that it is unlikely that it is what happen or that was the explanation they give, I was not there, it could have happen. It just does not make since for a pilot to get all the way to the combat zone, where he is looking to kill some thing or something looking to kill him, to find if it's traps and door work or not. I don't think they would take off without doing all the ops check, I don't think he/she would taxi out of the parking spot without doing all of it's checks. Sorry to bring an old subject back, I just never seen it before a couple of days ago.

No TAMARA in that Stealth kill.

SA-6 was the weapon used. Commander turned his radar on, found some disturbance in signal, assumed it was F-117A or something silmilar, turned the radar off, launched the missile in the estimated flight path of that plane and when missiles were close enough to damage/kill the plane turned the radar back on. Missile detonated and plane was down.

F-117A might have RCS similar to flock of pidgeons but obviousely that RCS is strong enough.
