Hello,

i have problems with escort aircrafts RTB'ing for no reasons at all.

I suspect that being iluminiated by enemy radar is enough for either the "bomber" (aircraft to be escorted) or the escort to change to combat condition, resulting in the escort to RTB, while the bomber continues along it's waypoints.

I could probably just go ahead and disable "abort mission" and "defensive behaviour" type parameters for both escort and bomber and maybe stack up many escort comamnds on the escort for it to snap back to escorting, but that feels like a stupid workaround for a bug(also i did not test that).

Since this "problem" persists since a long time, i assume it is not a bug, but a feature, hence my question, how to properly set up an escort fighter with some more dedication to it's job.

I'm on stable 1.5x, not using scripting framework...

thanks. :)

In the advanced waypoint action menu for the escort tasking, you can set at which waypoint the escort will leave the bombers, double check your escort is correctly instructed to stay with the bombers until they begin to RTB.

I would recommend changing reaction to threat to evade fire vs. allow abort mission; with the latter your bombers will turn tail at the first sign of a threat. Restricting the jettison of A-G weapons is also helpful if you want the bombers to actually get the job done.

thanks for the reply. it just turns out, that the last waypoint option is missing from the escort task. it is available with the "follow" task. so i think it is a bug of some sort, as i think that it has been available for the escort task some patches ago. not sure though.
