I'm trying to create a mission for mirage 2000. The only problem I have is how to make radar already warmed up while the engines and other systems already running.

Three minutes to warm it up is too much for me.

Type (from the options): Takeoff from parking.

Learn patience. It's a virtue. ;)

If you create an air start all systems will be ready to go. If you're starting on the ground, you need to taxi out, take off from the runway, and gain sufficient speed & altitude before you're ready to fight anyway...3 minutes is really not a very long time in this context and I think you'll find it's ready to go when you need it in most circumstances.

I do agree. But the problem is that me and other folks play MP mission with starting airfields located pretty close to each other. Three minutes is exactly the time you need to locate yourself in the midpoint between two airfields. So, for M2000 pilots it means flying "blind" and having no idea what is going on around them. I'm just curious, is there any script I can implement into mission code to have radar already warmed up before I take off.

And is there a rule that says you have to fly straight at them? ;) Take those three minutes to climb to 30,000 without chewing through all your gas in AB.

Then, when you're high, fast, and full of gas with your systems warmed up, start driving towards the bad guys. You'll be able to shoot from rougly 3 times the distance you would with a low level straight ingress, and you'll be able to trade that altitude in for airspeed if a merge does occur.

To answer your question again, no, you cannot bypass the RADAR warm up period from a cold start. You are only given the options to bypass INS alignment and cancel gyro drift. I'd recommend looking into FC3 if you want to be in the air and combat effective faster, or changing your Mirage to an air start next to the runway if you want to AirQuake it up.

In MiG-21 and F-5E, when you start from the runway, the radar is warmed up. Why not in the Mirage? It's not realism enhancement, just an omission in the start script.

Basically you can't make any mission (single/multi) with enemies that are too close.

"Takeoff from runway" only works in single player; in MP any aircraft set this way will simply revert to "Takeoff from parking hot" in a dynamically assigned parking space. I've just tested "takeoff from parking hot" and "takeoff from runway" in MP and both still require your RADAR to be warmed up.

So, once again. Nope. Air start or nothing if you want all your systems good to go.

Everything is clear now. Thank you for all your effort
