cannot spawn in client plane

I'm made a practice mission for learning the F5. I have 2 in the air flying towards each other with one set as client and the other as AI. When i play the mission I get the choose sides screen with the client showing and click it. it takes me to spectating the client aircraft, pressing Ralt J gives me the message 'Unable to enter aircraft. Aircraft not available for control'. It seems like i have things set up correctly, can anyone point out why this is happening please.

you need to select F5-3 e in the editor for the player aircraft

 

shown in yellow

 

the other f5 is AI only

Nevermind, i have no idea what was going on but if i start an new one and set it up the same it works.
