Emmy Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I got curious if an AI Harrier could "buddy lase" off another AI aircraft so I put an A-10C in orbit at 20,000' over one Russian armored vehicle as an AFAC and had it mark the target. One AI Harrier sent from the south at 15,000' carrying only two GBU 12s and the Harrier hit the vehicle dead nutz on the first pass. Realized that the A-10C was actually flying entirely clean with no TPOD on board so I removed the A-10 entirely and the Harrier still shacked the vehicle with an LGB. This was in 2.2 in Nevada [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php High Quality Aviation Photography For Personal Enjoyment And Editorial Use. www.crosswindimages.com
Flagrum Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 GBU's can be dropped as dumb bombs, no laser required. But to actually hit something from 15000 ft ... well, what was the AI's skill level set to?
Emmy Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 GBU's can be dropped as dumb bombs, no laser required. But to actually hit something from 15000 ft ... well, what was the AI's skill level set to? Average... But, the bomb was observed to correct its path mid-flight. It did not fall ballistically... CCIP? Perhaps, but see my reply above about how the bomb behaved as it fell.
