Ghosteye Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 After a long time I have finally found my way back to mission creation. The problem I'm having now is a pretty old one. In my personal opinion the Radar SAMs are way too easy to deal with. They are always broadcasting their location and therefore destroying any kind of suspense inside the mission. I'm looking for a way to disable the SAM Radar whiles aircraft are outside the effective firing range of the System and enable it as soon as someone enters the radius again. I worked with the IADS script in the past but that is not working as it should anymore. The only way I was able to achieve the desired behavior so far was to enable/disable emissions using trigger zones for the groups. However trying to apply this method to missions with randomized group spawns (location and size) becomes a very tedious task. Being only a small group of players we also can't just force one poor soul to manage ground forces all the time. Does anyone know of a script, suit or method to model this behavior? ______________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
ESAc_matador Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I think it works (IADS), did you download last version?
Ahmed Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 What needs to be done to have a proper way of scripting SAM behavior is for ED to provide a function that permits changing the radar usage behavior of the AI controller. So far air units have an option for that, but ground groups do not. Some scripts like the IADS script work around this by using the alarm state function. This 'hack' sort of works for fixed SAM sites but it causes some undesired behaviors too, for example in mixed tank battalions with SHORAD units. Hopefully in some future update they will implement such an option.
Ghosteye Posted January 12, 2018 Author Posted January 12, 2018 Last time I tried IADS some SAMs where on constant lunch break or something. The Odd Sa11 launcher fired but hawks, sa8s and the likes where all pretty much dead even while being within lethal range and detected by EWR. But that was a year ago now. Might have improved since then but I haven't found a recent thread about it. Did it receive recent updates I missed? ______________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Grimes Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 No released updates really. Updating it has been on my todo list for a long time and has basically been sidelined due to one really annoying problem to fix and near constantly getting sidetracked with testing or other projects. I have a rough outline of what I want to do with it, which boils down to fixing the broken rearm behavior as an initial fix and later a more thorough re-write of the network behavior. The Harrier and upcoming Hornet are starting to kick an update up my queue of important DCS stuff to do. One of these weeks I'm gonna really try to hunker down and get something done on it. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Ghosteye Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 Would be awesome to see such an important script being updated to the latest standards. But by all means. Take all the time you need for it. Who knows maybe one day we will get a truly alive world to play around in like in BMS. A dynamic unit spawner would really help with those kinds of problems as well. Like ArmA 3 Zeus/MCC but I fear we will never see something like this. That would truly start a new era of dynamic campaigns. ______________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Ghosteye Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 Anyone know of any english speaking PvE communities trying to create resonably dynamic campaigns for its pilots? ______________________________________________________________________ [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
