I've read about it in these forums so I thought I'd better have a go at it myself.

Set the carrier to full steam ahead, use the weather settings in the ME to give a good gale over the bow. Then fly the approach with the HUD Flight Path Indicator well ahead of the ship - then gradually bring it back to the far end of the flight deck as you near the stern.

I tried it with a Cessna 172 in FS9 - the result wasn't too pretty

Here's a video of the results. The A-10 is at 5:15.

I once landed an Su-25T on the CVN.

Both my engines were shot out and some parts of the wing were missing. The landing gears collapsed, which is the only reason I was able to slow down enough not to fall off over the other end. It was a miracle, and I've only managed it once on the American carrier, but I frequently land it on the Kuz.

Nice movie DPS.

Just had to share this find, after watching your movie

oh god! I could see that hapening in a sime, BUT IN REAL LIFE!

and as for the carrier movie, that was prety cool. Were you using FS2004? FSX comes with a carrier and in one mission, you are expected to land on it with a variety of planes.

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Just a normal day at the "office" for a customer of mine who used to fly U-10s in VietNam. He'd usually have a little more of a slope to deal with though. ;)

Nice vid DPS! :D I loved how the generator impellers were spinning on the ALQs of the Prowler.

Yes, FS2004. The USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) is the Flight Deck 4 add-on. It looks a lot better than the previous version. The Super Hornet has HUD with AOA bracket, Flight Path Marker, etc and the carrier has a functioning IFOLS, but I haven't had time to try it out properly yet so I will have to report back to you.

I've seen some great screenshots of the Su-25T returning to base VERY badly battle damaged (in one case with half the wing panels missing). Su-25T players should get into the habit of recording the tracks as they would make excellent action videos.
