FragBum Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 No. Not if it stays at 45fps. If it is capped at 45 fps it means there is some leftover time between frames pagadi, dude, no. Keep in mind that 2.5 still has a memory leak, hence the need to restart often. Also, switch off MSAA in VR. It runs a LOT better without it. I have a 1070 and use PD 1.2 and MSAA off. It works reasonably well. If you have a card with less memory you may need to stay at PD 1.0 Agree* and for me smooth constant 45FPS is pretty good to fly with and locking it to 45FPS gives more inter-frame processing time to avoid artefacts. I've also dropped settings so that the GPU is not pegged at 100% utilisation as that's what I find to be the biggest cause of stutters (drop frames) the GPU runs out of head room. I've just backed off my settings until the GPU averages 70 to 80% utilisation, it actually idles around 60% and utilisation varies slightly between the maps it will go higher on occasion depending on complexity of whats happening. * I have not actually experienced an issue with memory leak since 2.5 was released. For graphics cards with smaller amounts of memory you might try to experiment with:- Clutter/grass. Preload radius Trees/visibility. Textures Terrain Textures Try and use as much VRAM as you can. For GPU:- MSAA big FPS hit Textures Terrain Textures Water FPS hit AF FPS hit Pixel Density big FPS hit Try not to fixate on any aliasing or jagged edges look past that to the bigger picture it's amazing what the brain can learn to filter out with some training. :) When you get close to a reasonable compromise (even with a 1080Ti it is still a compromise) between performance and visuals fine tune between the maps and models for me it's no longer the raw numbers it's the immersion. I'll take smooth constant 45FPS over artefacts and stutters any day also I fly 99.9% helicopters so mostly low and fast. Sometimes too low. :D Here's my settings, I also run PD @ 1.2 and force IPD although I don't see any performance hit with force IPD The spike is dropping out of xbox recorder! YMMV 17 5930 @ 4.1Ghz 32GB @2.4Ghz 1080Ti @1.974Ghz Intel 500GB SSD Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
Haukka81 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Remember that frame rate you're seeing is per eye. It's switching back and forth each frame. So, if you're seeing 45 it's really 90/2. Also keep in mind that if you have a 4K monitor, you're making your video card run the monitor and two little 1080p screens. That takes extra horsepower. 90frames per eye is still best because ASW is not perfect. Skitter Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Hi guys, how this topic relates to current version of DCS? I've got Gigabyte 1060 6gb and looking to buy an Occulus rift. Do you think I'll get a reasonable performance?
