I've found 2.5 to be better than 1.5 but the exact spotting distance depends on the lighting and size of aircraft - so I'd need more detail on the aircraft, skin, Tod, GFX settings, etc. before I can compare.

 

Using Defered Shading, Gamma 2.0, AF=2x, MSAA=2x, IIRC I've spotted M-2000C@9nm, Mi-8@7nm and F-5@4nm but these were in a mix of different missions and lighting conditions (where I took the time to jump into F10 and measure), so can't be directly compared to each other.

Thanks those settings are much better. I was playing with AA and AF off, since that was the best visibility in 1.5.
