porky Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Just a small, simple problem :) My afterburner won't turn on when my throttle is at 100%. The only way it comes on is if I rotate the RNG rotary on my Cougar fully clockwise and then fully counter-clockwise...which is strange because RNG is mapped to MFD zooming in Foxy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Poopskadoop Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Sounds like you have a conflict between your joystick programming software and the controls you have entered in LO's options. But I don't own that stick, so don't take my word for it.
porky Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Nope, no luck :( I cleared all controls in the options and still no afterburner. I'm beginning to think it's a problem with Foxy (why would the RNG rotary, that has been mapped to MFD zooming control what the throttle should?), so I'm gonna mess around with that.
thereminqblank Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 ....why would the RNG rotary, that has been mapped to MFD zooming control.... Just out of curiosity: are you using the Cougar software to map the rotary to MFD zoom, or did you do this in the Lock On control edits? Maybe check if the mapping within Lock On options has somehow changed? Stranger things have happened on a PC :) Have you checked the input curve for the throttle within Lock On? If somehow any 'Shift' has been added, then pushing the throttle handle to full isnt giving full throttle in-game... porky Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Stranger things have happened on a PC :) Yep, and this has turned into one of those things ;) I fired up Lock On again to check and when flying the 27, I pushed the throttle to full and full right rudder was applied. I couldn't believe it, so I quit the mission and fired it up again...same result. Thinking the worst I played a mission in the 15, but there everything was fine but not fixed, the afterburner still controlled by the RNG knob. Then it hit me...I couldn't release my AMRAAM. I couldn't fire my cannon. I couldn't do anything with my Cougar apart from move the stick around and turn on the burners. Thinking it was a hardware fault, I opened up Falcon, but everything was fine...burners on at full throttle, my mappings worked perfectly. Same in FSX, and IL2. I'm checking and double checking the control edits, but so far nothing :( Just out of curiosity: are you using the Cougar software to map the rotary to MFD zoom' date=' or did you do this in the Lock On control edits? Maybe check if the mapping within Lock On options has somehow changed?[/quote'] Yep, Foxy, the Cougar software. I've cleared everything in the LO options, and after quitting and coming back ingame a few times, everything's the same, nothing's changed. Have you checked the input curve for the throttle within Lock On? How do you do that? I've checked the input controls under options, and there's a thrust/speed up/down control (which is clear), but I can't find the curves. Thanks for all your help, porky. EDIT: OK, you can all now call me the doziest person who has ever played Lock On :D I decided to investigate the problem further, wondering if the problem was that the RNG rotary was controlling thrust instead of the throttle. Of course it turns out it was, after a few minutes looking and testing at the RPM gauge in the 15, I had found the source of my problem. I then looked for a way to view the axis ingame as was suggested, and me being me had overlooked the "axis" button in the options. At once the problem became evident...it seems that the default options for Lock On (Gold) was that the RNG knob controlled thrust...and the throttle controlled yaw. So, anyway, after seeming a bit of trouble it was in fact, an extremely simple problem :) Sorry for all who I've bothered, and thanks for your help
