1.5 and 2.2 were running okay but I'm having problems with 2.5.

I upgraded 1.5 to open beta and that automatically upgraded to 2.5. I've run the A10C training flights, practicing landing and takeoff, doing circuits etc. I also ran the lightening pod and unguided rockets scenarios. The speech from the instructor seem to lock up quite often during the training, which means I have to restart. If I do manage to get more than half way through, weird things happen like the canopy opens and jettisons without actuation or the my HOTAS seems to lose responsiveness and the aircraft dives into the ground.

I recently installed Voice Attack and Vaicom, TrackIR 5 and Tacview, which I didn't have before the upgrade but after I installed them, I started having freezing problems and crashes with the Debug message coming up on screen. I tried restricting the FOV to 120, which I found on the forum about TrackIR but I still got crashes so I uninstalled them all to run DCS World to test the sim without them.

Is there any way of running a log or debug on the system so that I can try and figure out what is happening as I know that these applications are working for many users. Or does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try?

I have a 6800k processor with 64GB ram, a 1080 GTX GPU, DCS World is running from an SSD and I have the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS with Saitek Pro Rudders. I have every module so I'm heavily invested in this and obviously just want to do whatever it takes to get it working.

Thanks for your attention to this.

Have you tried running dcs repair? It's in the Eagle Dynamics folder in the start menu, or you can open command prompt, go to install directory then /bin/ and run "dcs_updater.exe repair".

I'd veer away from mods if any are installed currently (idk if you do or don't) at least until you get your client sorted.

It's something that can be fixed on your end I'd imagine.. even if it takes a fresh install, which the 2.5 beta installer is available now and will still copy files from your previous installs.

Run the repair.. if that doesn't work, time to troubleshoot. Your system should be able to run it, although i say that without knowing what resolution you're attempting to play at.

Hi Headwarp, thanks for the reply.

I had already ran a repair so I decided to do a reinstall from the button on the DCS website. I was up until 6am getting it sorted. I reduced my CPU clock from 4 GHz to 3.8GHz on all cores although it was running fine before. It's water cooled and never goes above 55 degrees. I was running at 4k before and it never had a problem but even so, I reduced the res to 2560 x 1440 and used the medium preset but it still crashed after a short while. I can't even finish any training missions as it crashes either when I taxi to parking or like ten minutes ago, on a go around for a second bombing run. As you can imagine (or maybe you know), it is sooo frustrating. I just don't understand why it would suddenly go like this after years of being okay. I had a 4770k, 32Gb and a 770 GTX before this machine and I replaced it a year ago. I had a BSOD earlier which pointed to a driver problem so I upgraded my graphics card driver. The only thing that is new is the upgrade to 2.5 and the trackir hardware. I hope someone can give me a debug/troubleshoot checklist, I feel it's going to be a long night.

Just based on your system specs I feel like you should be able to run it as smoothly (especially in SP) as mine at the very least. You have way more ram and a slightly better video card.

The only issue I've had personally with a fresh install of 2.5 on a fresh install of windows 10 with my current system aside from an occasional crash in multiplayer was something weird with g-sync. I'm not sure what it's all about but I was only getting 64 fps in the menu, and doing some research, enabling geforce experience overlay oddly enough fixed that. I run at 3440x1440 with my 980Ti.

Before suggesting the routine of basic trouble shooting, are you trying to run with MSAA+Deferred shading? Even setting msaa 2x with DS on makes my framerate drop to about 47-60 fps from 80-100 fps.

To reduce the effect of not having msaa I've set the image quality filter to High Quality for DCS in NV control panel which didn't effect the framerate too much. Im still debating whether turning on FXAA in nv control panel is actually doing anything.

Also - what about civilian traffic? Personally I turn this off... it's always been a performance killer, and who needs civilians getting in the way when you're trying to blow stuff up anyway.

Also be sure to "alt + enter" to see if changing between windowed/fullscreen improves performance in any way.

Sorry if my suggestions are things you've already considered.

If neither of those suggestions do anything for you, the only other suggestion I can make is to go through the routine of ensuring all your drivers are up to date, i.e. chipset drivers, sata controller drivers, even network drivers. Maybe run the vc_redist and repair in the DCS world install directory /distr/ (i think the dcs repair actually covers this but I could be mistaken)

I'd even go as far as to boot into safe mode and run DDU and reinstalling the graphics driver from scratch. Personally, as my PC is mostly used for entertainment purposes I tend to reinstall windows from scratch if I can't fix a problem within a certain timeframe.

That being said, please don't think I'm trying to blame you for this. I'm not ruling out the possibility of this being a bug in the client. There's just only so much we can do on the consumer end. DCS World unfortunately, tends to be software that I've done more troubleshooting on my own system for than pretty much any other game. The nature of this beast hehe.

Also - I'll hop into some of the training missions, my experience is mostly from instant action and MP at the moment. *edit* - no stuttering in the A-10C training missions for me. I feel pretty confident there's something you can do to get things running smoothly. Unfortunately I can't pinpoint what that is. All I can say is double check everything, driver versions, ensure the CPU isn't overheating and throttling down (clean or replace heatsink and thermal paste generally solves that if on air, or the area between fans and radiators if on liquid). Windows update, all that jazz. I'm stating pretty basic stuff here, but that's just because I don't know what level of know how you have and what you may or may not have already done. Also - if the game does CTD it should generate log files you can upload to your thread. Someone with more know how might step up and see something we're not capable of.

I've attached screen shots of my in-game settings and nv control panel settings whether or not they're actually doing anything, but allowing me to enjoy 2.5 (Ignore my v-sync forced off if not using a g-sync or adaptive sync monitor exceeding 60hz.) You will likely have to zoom in on the images to read them >.<

*I have since turned anisotropic filtering to 16X for help reducing jaggies without much hit to framerate*
