Hello,

I have been experiencing freezing issues in DCS ever since 2.1 version came out. Game would run perfect for a few minutes and then it would freeze up with background sounds still going.

I tried every know solutions that I could find from this and other forums. Reinstalling drivers(video, directx), lowering video settings to minimum, deleting DCS folder from saved games, removing all mods, switching between 1 and 3 screens and full screen option and nothing seem to help me solve my problem. I really love new DCS: AV-8B Night Attack and was so happy when it came out but I don't want to purchase it if I can't play it. I'm having exactly same issue with Open Beta as well.

I'm attaching my log files.

My System:

Intel Core i7 7700K @4.2GHz

16 GB of DDR4 Corsair RAM Dual Channel

nVidia GTX 1080 FTW2 w/ICX 8GB GDDR5X

Asus Maximux IX Code

I have 4 monitors setup but using only 3 for DCS. 5760x1800 across 3 monitors

CPU and GPU were overclocked but I removed it since I thought maybe that was causing problems. Still having same issues even without OC.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the logs duja

Just some things to check off the top of my head.

your windows is upto date, and you have the latest nvidia driver installed?

Have you edited your FOV for any of your aircraft? some users had noticed an issue with 3 screens and large FOV.

in your NVIDIA settings what is your pre rendered frames set at? I have a friend with 3 screens and he had a better experience with it set to 3 pre rendered frame.

are you using SSD or HDD?

and is your pagefile set manually or system managed. I would recommend system managed.

I am off to bed soon, but will check here in the morning :)

Thanks for the reply.

My windows is up to date along with nvidia drivers.

I never changed FOV for any aircraft, and I had same issues when I ran 1 monitor as well.

My maximum pre-rendered frame is set to use the 3D application setting, I will change that to 1 - 3 and test it.

I have both SSD and HDD. Windows is installed on SSD and my DCS saved games are on SSD however the game is installed on HDD.

HDD: WD Black 6TB 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD

If you are referring to Virtual Memory Pagefile it is set to Automatically manage paging file size for all drives and for the HDD where the game is installed it was set to No paging file. I changed it ti System managed.

UPDATE

Ok first thing I tried was playing with pre rendering frame settings only since I wasn't really fan of .120 FOV. I play across 3 monitors and that seemed way too close for my taste.

Changing pre rendering frame to 2,3 and 4 didn't make much of a difference, game was still freezing pretty fast even right after take off.

I kept pre rendering frame at 3 and changed FOV to .130 and this seems to work. I'm still not fan of that FOV I kinda like view from far back. I had mine FOV set to .155 and my Warthog throttle Joy slider used for zoom in and out. But hey as long as it works it's fine I'll keep the damn thing at .130 and get used to it. I rather have closer view than not fly at all.

It's still freezes occasionally but nothing like before. I was actually able to complete the whole mission. It is a great workaround but I really hope it will be fixed so I can go back to my old FOV and no freezing at all : )

I haven't been playing DCS for a long time because I had this very same issue on 2.X early access and could never fix it and was also bored of just playing 1.5

It feels great to play it again somewhat without issues : ) especially because of the exciting new content that it's coming out soon.

Thank you so much for your help and I will continue to update. Peace.

Dramatic problem needs dramatic solution. Clean and reinstall completely DCS on the SSD?

I moved the game to SSD. Still having the same issue.

Also it's only happening with A10C module. My game runs perfectly fine when I fly F5 or Black Shark. And I even run those modules with all maxed out video settings. Weird.
