Jetguy06 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I have a question: How is the desired positioning of parked aircraft communicated from the air boss in the island to the flight deck? With all the noise on the flight deck, I would guess it's too loud to use the headsets the deck crew wear.

For any deviations from the plan, to announce moves, and aircraft status changes, radio headsets are used. Major events, like starts, FOD walk down, hazard warnings and emergencies are usually communicated by hand signals, radio and the 5MC. During EMCON runners are used to convey messages. Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.
