tangofoxtrot Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I am running both 2.2 and I.5.8 on the same SSD drive. I need to move 1.5.8 to another drive on the same PC in order to have room to update 1.5.8 to open beta and 2.2 to 2.5. Couple of questions: In order to move 1.5.8, is it sufficient to just copy the folder to the other drive and delete the original SSD copy? Aside from deleting the original folder, is there any additional cleanup required on the SSD? If I do this, will there be any problem loosing activations for installed payware? Since 2.5 has now been released and given that I have no need for 1.5.8 once the Caucasus map is available in 2.5, is there any point in doing what I described? Is there a more direct path? Thanks for any ideas.
FOXFIRE TWOONE Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) My thought, if you have room on current drive just update to 2.5 stable. Then make sure all is ok in sim. Then after you'r sure everything is working correctly just move the Eagle Dynamics folder to the desired drive. I just did this myself. Upgraded to 2.5 stable check that all was well. Then moved from C drive to B drive. No copy past in my case. When perfectly well, and still using same desktop Icon to connect. I also left saved games folder on C drive. tangofoxtrot Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 Thanks for the quick response Foxfire. I'm concerned about trying to upgrade to 2.5 stable without first getting 1.5.8 off the SSD. Originally, I tried to uptdate 1.5.8 to open beta and 2.2 to the early 2.5 without moving anything. The 1.5.8 update failed, due to lack of room – probably because I have the Normandy and Nevada test site maps and a number of payware acft, combined arms … My goal is to have 2.5 on the SSD (for performance reasons – the other drive is large, but slow) and no 1,5.8 anywhere. I have no objection to just deleting 1.5.8 as long as I don't loose the Caucasus map in the process. That would give me the room to update to 2.5 stable. As long as I end up with 2.5, all the maps and the same number of remaining activations for the payware as when I started, I'll be happy. I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot in the process of getting there.

Then just move 1.58 to the other drive that you will make it's home, then update it and it will automatically, or ask you if you want to install 2.2 their, and say yes. If you copy past 1.5.8 to the other drive and leave original copy on origin drive the updater will look their. As long as you are moving to another drive on same pc their is no consequencies. You need 1.5.8 for 2.5 to update too. The updater, updates 1.5.8 and move 2.2 alpha too 2.5. making single install of DCS WORLD. PS The update will be between 92 to 94 GB so make sure you have the space on the new drive. Failed Creation Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I updated 1.5.8 final to 2.5 release and elected to keep 1.5 'just in case' (it was a ~12GB DL). Upon realizing that 2.5 is way slow on my HD, I cleared out space on my SSD and copied 2.5 over, leaving 1.5 on the HD as I didn't mind load times before. All I did was update the registry key with regedit to point to the new location. It runs fine, and when I DL'ed NTTR, it updated fine. I don't remember the exact location sorry, but there's plenty of threads describing where the registry entry is located.
