I wish we could place a sound emitter and chose a file for it. So many plausibilities...

Realistic air raid sirens

Soldiers talking to each other on the ground

GPU sound... and more ridiculous ones (Loud party in a tent in first mission of Huey UN campaign)

 

I know that we can play sound basically directly inside your ear, but that is extremely limiting. No fading witch distance, no insulation because of canopy or door, etc...

Thanks for a reply, but what I mean is an actual plausibility of placing a sound on the map. so that it uses games sound engine. You know what I mean?

Oo oh Ok brother i got ya. I thought so. But maybe it was something you wanted to have constant. Im curious if you rexord the sounds and then blend together, and play from start of mission throught your whole time. Like your partynin the tent( or airmans club) like you land at a new base or something. Love your ideas.

Would editing an object do it?

 

For example, copy the files of a Jeep, but edit the jeep's image files to show a small box--non-driveable--and then edit the sound files with the desired ambient sounds.

 

Just a random thought.

That sounds perfectly doable. I would then have to include the modified file with the mission, right?

Yes, if you want it in the mission it'd need to be placed in there.

 

Hmmm....I can see someone modding a Huey to play "Ride of the Valkries."
