Hi all!

I had no problems running DCS 1.5 but 2.5 is now freezing sometimes. I do have Intel I5 3470 3.2GHz , 8gb ddr3 , Gt 1030 2gb. Do you think I could play 2.5 withouth freezes and lag if I upgrade my GPU? I dont need high graphigs, just smooth gameplay.

Hi

and welcome to the forum

I will put DCS specs below

Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 60 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better; requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements (HIGH graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56 with 8GB VRAM or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

Recommended VR systems requirements (VR graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

Upgrading your gpu will be good and will help, however you will still be using the minimum amount of RAM.

So I would have smooth gameplay on medium/low graphics?

It would be much much better then what you have now.

I would also look to get, if on a budget, to help "the rest of your system" to match and push the "GTX 1060 6GB"

16GB or 32GB of DDR3 1600MHZ RAM and a 250Gb SSD for DCS to sit on, if you don't have one now that is? This could come later, I still recommend it tho. :)

The SSD can help with stutters too and make your load times much more bearable.;)

Like BIGNEWY said, new cards out soon, prices could drop....

Add 8gb of ram now. It's cheap.

Look into overclocking your video card for the time being.

Wait for new Nvidia cards this fall.

I run an overclocked Radeon 7950 with med-high settings at 1080p and it's 95% smooth. It's a better card than the 1030 but not too far off. If you add ram and oc, you'll have a better experience until fall.

SSD is helpful too, but I think ram will help you most.
