Guest Guest Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I'm really looking forward to practicing BFM/ACM in the Hornet in the Just Dogfight Server. I used to fly on another outdated non-combat oriented sim that had a mod to make it a combat sim. With that I was limited in my ability to practice BFM and gain experience. The nice thing about DCS is the wide variety of servers in a combat environment. My BFM game didn't really improve until I started playing DCS. First I started just fighting AI until I could win every time. Then I started flying in the Just Dogfight Server. The wide variety of jets you come across in that server was great for gaining experience. What I'm getting at is I hope the Just Dogfight Server will do for my Hornet ACM skill progression what it did for my ACM skill in the F-15. The Hornet will be a more realistic sim compared to the F-15 and the F/A-18 also doesn't have the TWR of the F15 which will make it less forgiving. I've still learned a lot in the F-15 and surely some of those skills will carry over, but it will take an adjustment and familiarization period. That was a lot of rambling. I'm really looking forward to taking my flight sim skill overall to higher levels in the Hornet. I thoroughly enjoy ACM, enjoy the challenge, and enjoy the rush of winning a tough fight against a good opponent. I'm also really excited to fly a PFM Mig-29G as an aggressor for educational purposes against the guys in Hornets in my virtual squadron. The helmet mounted sight is a game changer. Because of the lack of good sensors compared to western jets and intercept instructions from the ground you have use a stealthy approach with your radar off and get in close where the HMD and R73 give you an advantage. By flying the Mig-29 against Hornets you get the opportunity to better understand how to beat it in a Hornet. I've rambled enough. I'm bored between semesters and overall looking forward to what's coming to DCS this year. Comment and add whatever you want
Mars Exulte Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I'm a 29 fan as well, and looking forward to blasting many noobs while flying it :) Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
David OC Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I'm a 29 fan as well, and looking forward to blasting many noobs while flying it :) The sneaky IRST / R-73 / R-27ET:D. That's just nasty zhukov... This tactics guide is awesome for noobs looking to get the most out of the 29 or Su27. You will also be able to have a crack in ACM against the F-16C down the track, good match for the Hornet. I thing you will have many pilots that think they can whip some A.. as many have played with the F-16 for quite some time in that other sim. - i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. Guest Guest Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 (edited) The F16 will be interesting when it does come out, but I think that will be a long ways away. In the Fightersweep article comparing the F18 and F16 in a dogfight they say that the F16 is more forgiving than the hornet thanks to it's excellent TWR. I'm sure by the time the F16 is out I'll be fairly experienced in the Hornet and looking for something new to learn. Edited May 6, 2018 by Heavy-D69420
Guest Guest Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 (edited) The F-16 is the next big jet after the Hornet, Tomcat, and Phantom. I think due to it being a high fidelity module it will be an excellent stand in for the full fidelity red jets-i.e. a Mig-29 or Flanker-that Wags said in live stream will not be produced anytime soon. With the F-5, Hornet, Phantom, PFM Mig-29, and F-16 at some point in the future there will be a wide variety of modules to choose from that have been aggressors in Top Gun and Red Flag either currently or at some point in the past. We'd just need an A-4-I've heard that one is being made. Edited May 6, 2018 by Heavy-D69420
