Warthog "sticky"/"stuck" CMS switch fix

I have a sticky CMS for a while. It became more and more annoying.

So i decide to do something about it.

This article or some u2b vids may help you figure out how to unscrew the grip case.

 

CMS switch has 2 plastic housings screwed together.Each has 2 screws。

First house holds a push-down button solder with blue & black wire in the center. Rest of wires pass though the holes and connect with second house.

Rip off all hot clue around house and wires except the glue on center blue/black wires.

Unscrew the first house. Gently pull it back.

Once you get enough room. Unscrew the second house. Then you can pull the entire CMS switch out.

Second plastic housing. It's quite shocking to me. That 4 way switch actually just 4 micro touch-switches was hold together by a plastic housing. If you have problem with switch itself. You can get those buttons from regular hardware shops or eBay.

 

 

The dust or dirty grease between dust cap and ceiling, or spring and bottom of stick is not smooth enough. It may cause CMS stuck when you push side or down.

 

Using Q-tip and alcohol clean up all grease and dust on CMS push stick, stick dust cap/tray(P2 red circle) ,spring, plastic housing and house ceiling (P3 red circle).

 

Smear some clean grease on CMS push-stick and spring. Smear a very thin layer of grease on dust cap (P2 red circle) and ceiling (P3 red circle).

 

Then you can put them back together. I dont have hot clue in my hand. And i dont want to glue it again.(for future maintains)

If the CMS switch is loosing without glue. Insert a folded paper between gap.

It looks like a 6x6x5 mm
