falken76 Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 This is getting a lot of praise, there are alot of servers running PG. When are we going to get this on steam?! Hurry up and release it there already so everyone that spent money on your DLC can play this damn game. If I had known in the beginning that there would be compatibility issues and different release dates for content, I never would have wasted money on the maps on Steam because I can't transfer them and I refuse to re-buy them just to switch to stand alone. At the VERY LEAST give us an expected ETA so we have an idea. Is it days? Is it going to be weeks? Is it going to be years? (That's legit for the F18, will it be years?!). Can you at least give us an idea of when it might become available? Please dont say "I've heard nothing yet". That's no answer.

ndecaro Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 I feel you man, but I am pretty sure we will get the new map on Steam soon enough. It is frustrating though to have purchased modules for DCS on Steam only to find out that the Steam version gets different treatment from ED. Wish I would have known this before hand, and I know others feel the same way. I am pretty certain that Steam would allow ED to put the Persian Gulf map and F/A 18 up for pre-order as well, but for some reason, it seems that the release dates and pre-ordering are exclusive to the standalone version. The only excuse I have heard is that they fear negative reviews on Steam. Doesn't really make sense though as the discussions over on Steam are pretty much "Hey, where is the map? I was looking forward to buying that". Also, treating the Steam version like this only makes people who bought modules from Steam feel like they have missed out, and I am constantly seeing threads of people asking if they can transfer their modules from Steam to standalone. I really hope they get this is order so that us Steam users don't feel so left out.
Balzarog Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 (edited) We all made the choice to download DCS World form either ED or Steam. It is my belief that most Steam users chose Steam because of the "super sales" that Steam runs, but the drawback is that new content and updates for the "Steam DCS World" can drop days to weeks after they drop for "ED DCS World," and Steam users can't take advantage of "Early Access" or "Prerelease Sales." ED DCS World" users used to be able to buy content on Steam and transfer the key to ED DCS World until ED changed the licensing system to cut down on piracy. Unless ED or Steam has stated that ED fears negative comments on Steam the statement is hearsay. The most logical reason is that ED wants to make sure all, or most of, the bugs have been worked out. That might even be a requirement of Steam because Steam fears losing sales because of a buggy product. Can you say original IL-2 Cliffs of Dover? I knew that ED could be more expensive in the long run, but I chose ED because I wanted the faster updates and early access and prerelease opportunities, and I feel that paying more justifies me getting those benefits earlier than Steam users. I'm not going to post complaints about Steam sales that ED users don't get and demands on the Steam forums because I chose to go with ED. Honestly, that is what I find most annoying with these posts. You made your choice and bought your ticket. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your ride. You'll get it eventually.:pilotfly: Edited May 25, 2018 by Balzarog When all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! i-7 8700K Coffee Lake 5 GHz OC CPU, 32GB Corsair 3200 RAM, GTX1080 Ti 11Gb VRAM. falken76 Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 They did state that they do not release on steam until they feel they are confident in the modules and maps because they do not want negative reviews on steam, but they didn't say they were afraid of getting negative reviews. That is completely understandable considering it could directly effect sales and steam would provide a great deal of revenue for them. This was in the steam forums earlier this week.
