n00b Question - Multiplayer Versions

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else already.

 

Does the version matter for multiplayer compatibility? For example, if I am playing using the Open Beta version, does that cause issues with people using the Stable version?

 

Do I really need both versions of the game installed?

yes version number does matter.

 

you can have the release and open beta installed if you wish. they run independently of each other.
