I understand that DCS 2.5 runs much better with 32GB vs 16GB RAM and I also use a Win7 Virtualbox (not whilst gaming) which needs about 8GB allocated to avoid error problems which is another reason to upgrade.

So I'm planning to sell my 4*4GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600Mhz CL9 (CML8GX3M2A1600C9) that I currently have installed, plus another 2*4GB of the same sticks which came from my spare system and buying s/h 4*8GB instead. I'm just wondering whether I'd see any significant difference if I upgrade to 1866Mhz RAM and whether I should stick with Corsair Vengeance LP or if Kingston Hyper-X Fury or any other LP sticks would be better? Motherboard is an Asus Z97-A and CPU is i5-4670k OC'd to 4.3Ghz.

Wait, the OB uses "only" 10GB, I have taken 16GB of the 32GB out to test with 16GB alone, NO DIFFERENCE anymore with the new mem management.

Ah, well if that's the case then great. However the recommended specs do say 32GB, so I'm wondering if your tests weren't fully pushing it. Maybe with certain maps it needs more for instance? It would be good to hear from some other users.

I fly online at BlueFlag only. During the tests the server had 40-50 clients online.

With 2.5 this means 20-22GB RAM and 30GB swap, in OB it's 10.xGB RAM and 20GB swap, stable, across the 2 OB patches in my findings.

That's quite an improvement. I imagine MP is the most resource-hungry scenario. Maybe they'll change the recommended specs once it's out of OB.
