First of al I absolutely love F-18. What a great aircraft model even in early stage. My biggest kick at the moment is a carrier landing. I'm not quite proficient, but I slowly getting hold of it.

I try to stick to 8 degrees AoA and get velocity vector around around first or second wire. I have managed to land several times as well as to produce couple bolters. Now, here where things get interesting. I tried to analyze my landing in replay. Equally bad :music_whistling: landings look the same. but is some cases I catch the wire and in some I don't.

Initially I thought that aircraft bounces at touch down, but replay didn't show that. Than I figured may be hook bouncing - again it was not shown during replay. Basically to my understand two equally (no super great landing) but on correct spot can have trap and bolter. I don't really understand the difference ? :pilotfly: So can someone can explain me the arresting wire modeling and variables that can play a role? It seems like replay doesn't help much to figure that the difference between trap and bolter. In both cases I get to the correct spot to catch the wire :helpsmilie:

I aim toward the front of the ship, high aoa and just drop the power 10-20 feet before the deck. no flare or adding power until after touchdown. works every time

"get velocity vector around around first or second wire" you need to fly the ball (IFLOLS), not use the FPM/VV

Thanks I'm aware of that, but for some reason when I follow it I ends up missing wires all together
