fitness88 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I was trying to work tacan steering and waypoint steering into the auto pilot. Is there A/P steering to other than headings? Or is the HSI representation of the tacan or waypoint just a fly to reference for the pilot? Thank you.
Greyman Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 the second one. i have not seen anything about an AP that would follow the whole route. the auto setting, like in the M2000c, just moves advances to the next waypoint as it gets within a reasonable distance of each waypoint. as for Tacan, again it just inidcates, on the HSI, the direction the pilot needs to fly in to get to the next one.

From page 76 To use TACAN steering: 1- Select TCN from the UFC 2- Press X or Y of the desired channel from the UFC Option Select Window / Button 3- Turn on the TACAN by pressing the ON/OFF button on the UFC 4- Press CLR (Clear) on the UFC keypad to clear the scratchpad 5- Using the UFC key pad, enter the desired TACAN channel and then press the ENT button on the UFC 6- Select TCN on the HSI display Are you saying there is no steering coupling to the A/P for the tacan or waypoint only for setting a heading? Also the course select is also just a visual fly to aid for the pilot? Edited June 2, 2018 by fitness88
Greyman Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 As far as I am aware, the Tacan feature provides you with a bearing and whether you fly to that manually or enter it as a heading for AP, the AP won't follow it automatically and neither will it follow a string of waypoints, unless all of the said waypoints are in a straight line.

Only heading then will couple with A/P steering?
TonyG Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 There is a coupled (CPL) mode available on the Hornet, this might be a missing EA feature. Reference NATOPS page 134/135 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit
