Fly by wire and Auto trim are seperate functions. Fly by wire just means there is no longer control rods or cables directly connected to the input devices the pilot controls. Instead, its just electrical relays that sends signals to a motor that manipulates the control surface. Being fly by wire might make it easier for an auto trim system, but it is not an automatic thing.

Funny, I don't have to trim, I put the nose where I want and it stays there<.<

And yes, Autotrim and FBW are not the same system. The F-15 has Autotrim, but no FBW, the Hornet and Mirage have FBW, but not Autotrim...

I still have no issues with my nose wandering off tho.

Are you talking about asymetric loads because of weapons deployment?

GCI: "Control to SEAD: Enemy SAM site 190 for 30, cleared to engage"

Striker: "Copy, say Altitude?"

GCI: "....Deck....it´s a SAM site..."

Striker: "Oh...."

Fighter: "Yeah, those pesky russian build, baloon based SAMs."

I dont understand why we are having to trim a fly by wire plane. Shouldn't the flight computer be doing this automatically?

Because it is a common misconception that FBW aircraft don't need trim. If they did not need trim, why have a trim button on the stick? It does have some automatic trim function in pitch, but it does this by g or AOA depending on the mode. So in auto-flap it will try to maintain 1G. But you can be inverted, heading to the ground at 1g.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
