Well you know how we're replacing the F-111's with the JSF-35..we'r paying 30 billion for some of these guys.

 

anyhow i heard on 60 mins that there was a tossup between the raptor and lightning II, but they chose the Lightning II because it was 10% blah blah, 50% blah blah...and so on, but 5% that they cannot reveal? that makes it ideal for Australia.

 

Anybody know what this 5% is? it's been killing me for AGES.

Coz there definitely was some talk about why we were getting 2nd best or something on the news. I could be mistaken.

I distinctly remember this interview. It was interesting. The flying scenes wer great too.

 

Too the point thought. I too would love to know what this 5% thing was..if he was just giving an excuse for the governments apparent lack of interest in other airframes, which couldn't be investigated?? Or is there actually some ability so seemingly important and advanced (top secret) that it makes our government so confident.

 

It annoys the crap outta me though cos by hiding this and saying that this ability is the most important factor in the acquisition, it serioulsy hampers any quality discussion..

I believe some people are arguing why they decided on JSF instead of Raptor because they think Raptor is better, but what the governemt is saying is that they chose the JSF because they believe it suits better ADF needs. Also if they didn't say what the 5% was I don't expect you to find it out because if they wanted other people to know they would say it in the first place :D

 

Army claims are just as piloticians.. they say what they want you to hear... not the real truth, and for bloody good reason ;)
