johnv2pt0 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Hi, can any of you nautical types explain how getting weather information before a flight on an aircraft carrier works? Specifically, do you just get your wx as you step to the jet or is there also some sort of ATIS that you can tune to? If there is an ATIS or standard radio call, do you have any example links you can share to help us mission builders? Thanks ~
TonyG Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I would think it’s part of the pre-mission briefing. 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit
joey45 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I would amuse they'll have their own experts on the ship. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. johnv2pt0 Posted June 9, 2018 Author Posted June 9, 2018 And when returning tower gives them updated wx on initial contact? Please don't take offense, but I'm looking for concrete answers...no assumptions or thoughts please.
SageOT Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) Marshal gives them case, expected BRC, altimeter. Can't remember if Marshal or Tower gives them winds across the deck. T45 CV training manual gives a ton of good "ATC" info. To include "scripts" which is a big help. Zero real world knowledge for me but I'm not guessing. Going from what I read up on while making our CV guide and we are extremely lucky to have some former naval aviators in the group. Also, it's case 3 but...
