imacken Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 The F10 map often starts somewhere mid-Crimea rather than mission start location. Not related to any particular modules afaics. Shahdoh Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Usually find that the F10 map's start position is where it was situated in the mission editor when you save the mission, including the zoom level.
imacken Posted June 24, 2018 Author Posted June 24, 2018 Thanks but I’m talking about ED IA and Training Missions that I’m pretty sure were correctly positioned previously. Shahdoh Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Ah, good to know, since that was not stated previously...
cabzi Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 F10 map is borked af at the moment. Probably not very high priority on ED’s fix list, but still quite annoying. i7-6850K | GTX1080 | 32GB DDR4 | Windows 10 Pro

imacken Posted June 25, 2018 Author Posted June 25, 2018 It should be a high priority if it isn't. Agreed. The map is so far off my position, that by the time I re-orientate it, anything could have happened in air! Balzarog Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 (edited) Agreed. The map is so far off my position, that by the time I re-orientate it, anything could have happened in air! I bind the F10 to my joystick (Warthog). If you open your Controls settings, you'll see that there are two selections for F10. One shows the campaign or mission map, and the other shows your aircraft position on the map. I usually bind the aircraft position so that's what it shows regardless of how the mission created set it up as long as the mission allows using the F10 map (there's a checkbox selection in the mission editor that allows or prohibits using F10). Some MP servers and missions, such as Korea 1952, don't allow showing the aircraft location on the map. That is an intentional choice to enhance a realistic immersion in the server. If you click on a server, and look at the server requirements below the list of servers, you'll see on the right-hand side what the server allows. Those are the choices of the server. Yes, thanks for that. I do have it mapped to my HOTAS (pinky+DMS up) but I didn't know about the alternative F10 view, i.e. on the aircraft. It starts off way zoomed in, but certainly better than before. However, the fact is, that this used to work OK, but is definitely a bug now. The Hornet Free Flight IA mission is an example.
