I notice the Hornet is very reluctant to keep a missile lock on an enemy past about 20 degrees off the nose. On the eagle I can fire a sparrow and then immediately "crank" the target off to the side of the radar screen, 40-50 degrees off the nose, no problem.

I don't think the loss of lock has anything to do with the enemy notching me. If i'm driving straight at them, they can maneuver and notch all they want, and as long as they are close enough (20-30mi) the radar stays locked. Pull more than about 20 degrees off boresight and I lose the lock very easily, almost instantly.

Anyone else notice this behavior? I have not done any sort of controlled testing, this is just my observation. I would think this radar should be just as good at keeping a lock 60 degrees off boresight (assuming you don't exceed the 70 degree limit of the radar) as it would if you are driving straight at them.

It's been noticed. The radar is a WIP. This part simply needs more progress...
