Guppy Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 So I think most of you are aware that the Thrustmaster MFDs have a curvature in the inner frame that blocks off symbology on the AMPCD in the hornet (and the displays in the Warthog). The real AMPCDs have 90 degree corners. I’m looking for some sort of conversion to take my existing TM MFDs and turn it into an AMPCD with 90 degrees inner corners. My thought is to either 1) very carefully filing down the curves into corners and filling in the work with some very thin styrene plastic, painted black. OR are there any conversation kits that people have designed that can be 3D printed? I’d like to leverage all of the existing electronics and not do my own buttons/ soldering, etc. My Simpit Progress and Update Learn how to build a SimPit like mine: Follow my Blog here!
Guppy Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 with some quick research i figured out it is not possible to file down the plastic as the electronics move within the curvature. Bummer. My Simpit Progress and Update Learn how to build a SimPit like mine: Follow my Blog here!
Hansolo Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 What do you mean with blocks off? Doesn't that depends on how big your monitor lua is? Cheers Solo 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
Guppy Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 If I size the viewport to span all edges, the corners get covered up because of the curvature of the frame. I could make it smaller but then it just looks weird. The L/R DDIs are fine because they have curves IRL. My Simpit Progress and Update Learn how to build a SimPit like mine: Follow my Blog here!
Hansolo Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Roger now I understand your problem. Then you probabl have to build them yourself or buy real ones. There were a few real ones on Ebay a while back but they were $700 a piece IIRCC. Cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
