Pilotasso... are you following this blow by blow critique??

Ok I've gotten through the raid drivers issue, windows actually recognises the Nvidia drivers... and I've gotten all the way to the end and now windows is about to ask me to sign off on accepting the license.. But.... it doesn't see the hard drives.... and reboots...

This is a very fussy Mother Board... I had the same problems with this the last time... The Nvidia raid drive setup is very detailed and you have to get the sequence right... The Asus manual in this case is very vague, it should really have more precise instructions...

Its ok though I just can't remember how I did this the last time... But if I did once I can do it again...

Radeon HD 2900 XT Not that bad…

But we can't overlook the high power draw: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2130377,00.asp

GeForce 8800 GTX: $559

Radeon HD 2900 XT: $399

GeForce 8800 GTS: $299/399

Radeon X1950 XTX: $390

@ Pilotasso,

It performs better than the 8800 GTS for the same prize!

Well that looks sort of like the Commando's big brother.. LOL

It's got the intel chip set that from my experience is very stable... You shouldn't have any issues installing this one and getting it to run smoothly on the first shot...

Of course your aware that this is a crossfire board, you can get it to run SLI but the drivers are unofficial...

Good luck with you're new system Bro... I know that you're going to enjoy every minute of it...

That's a great looking card .... I have the BFG version and it rocks...

Well I tried loading up Lock On today so I could see if this MB was any better then the last P5N32-E.. Its not that solid yet, but I usually have small issues with most of the MB's after installation... Usually they need to burn in.. All the hardware and software has to mesh.... But I'm having trouble with Star Force right now, and its going to take a little while before I solve this issue...

I've got my X-Fi and TIR 4 in and working and got the Cougar up and running so I decided to try out FSX... Its actually better now then the Commando... and the first P5N wouldn't even run it ... Oh and by the way all of the settings are maxed out....

I'm glad that I waited to until I was able to use the XP drivers off of the disk, rather then using the Vista from the web sight..

I'm just not ready for that headache yet.. But I'm just putting off the inevitable of finding Vista drivers for my applications...

So they delayed the 2900XT for releasing the entire DX10 in one go?

Heres what they achieved with that marketing strategy:D

Maybe you have not completely understood my previous post.

But why would you purchase the 8800GTS if ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT scores better for the same price. (Anyway if the powers draw would not be a problem :D ).

Radeon HD 2900 XT=top card from ATI sold at low-cost 8800GTS price

Of course 8800GTX/Ultra pawns everything.

It didnt look like it to me. I saw many benchmarks. Some that show max FPS on this card to be greater than the GTS also show lower min FPS than the GTS. Min FPS afects game play much more than max, where you cant see any better playability above 30FPS anyway.

Plus I value silence the most over a few FPS more or less it might have here and there.

Cheers
