ElCuco68 Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Ive been looking at different things for expanding cockpit control without going too crazy initially. I'll probably eventually get the TM MFDs and some inexpensive displays, but in the meanwhile, is there something i could use that would allow me to use my android phones, touchscreen laptop, or a separate touchscreen monitor to control the MFDs, CDU, various other buttons like the one set right below the HUD in the A10C? I've heard of Helios and a couple others, but I'm having trouble determining what these programs actually do, and how to use them. I was hoping you all could point me toward some of these programs and tell me what they do and the best ways to use them. Thanks all ! ElCuco68 Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 Yes, I've seen this, but what I'm having trouble figuring out is if it's this or some other program that I need to turn my laptop (with touchscreen) or my Android phones into touchscreen inputs for the various DCS planes? This is all brand-new to me, and there seems to be so much to learn, and I have so little time (I'm a med student with a family of 4 who also works), that I really need to ask for help with some of this. Thermal Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 None of the solutions are that simple, and nearly all solutions involve having the touchscreen as a secondary monitor of your DCS PC. Ikarus/Helios/Touchbuddy(old): Both use DCS monitor exports (which you need to configure yourself) and the run overlays over the top which are touch-sensitive. Helios is maybe the most sophisticated, its also the hardest to setup. Ikarus is easier (mostly). You can run these programs on another PC, but you cant export MFD's or RWR's if you do. If you want to use an iPad or Android, then there are some apps available, and you'll need to setup the data export with "Export.lua", a config file of DCS that controls data export (and you need to find/install/configure a program to accept that data).
ElCuco68 Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 What do you think of virtual cockpit server for DCS World? Can that use a laptop as the touchscreen for CDU, UFC, MFDS, etc., or does that only work on a phone or pad?
