kunterbunt Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I'm having really problems to set up an EWACS that will detect and report incoming AI. Bandit is a Mig21Bis, and it just flies below the AVACS that reports clean sky. Is AWACS buggy, or am I doing something wrong? kunterbunt Posted August 29, 2018 Author Posted August 29, 2018 Post your .miz and I'll take a look. On the surface everything sounds like it should work. Thanks. Much appreciated help. I removed all civil planes from the mission, as they needed an addon and put the F-18 into the air, so that you can test communication with AWACS immediately after start of mission.F-18-Mig-21-awacs-test.miz My Rig: AMD Ryzen 9 3950X | 64GB DDR4-3200 Ram | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti | Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog | MFG Crosswind rudder pedals | HP Reverb
feefifofum Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 So I think this was a combination of factors - for starters your AWACS' first waypoint is at 42,000 feet and his second is at 6,000 feet. His orbit is also set to 6,000 feet which means he's going to start diving as soon as the .miz starts. I can't find a quick document showing the exact coverage area of the E-3 but the combination of the dive and the fact that the bandit spawns 36,000 feet more or less directly underneath him are the two factors that are preventing detection in-game. Move your AWACS' orbit over the UAE and set his second waypoint and orbit at the same altitude as his first and he is able to detect the bandit. THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC

After fixing this I can request situation and will no longer get a clear. I thought that the AWACS will report by itself, but look s as if I need to request it. I also thought that if the AWACS can see the enemy fighter, that my RWR should also show it. But looks as if this kind of link is not supported in the F-18? feefifofum Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Not yet, but datalink is planned for the future. The AWACS crew will report some things to you on their own, but it's a good idea to ask for updates yourself as well if you're heading for a fight.
