DmitriKozlowsky Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Is this a cheat? Or WIP by RAZBAM. Engine can be started without APU or ext. pwr. That can't be righ.
ChickenSim Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Pressing the ENG ST (Engine Start) switch engages the gas turbine starter automatically, which also automatically disengages the GTS once the engine has attained self-sustaining speed. Turning the APU on just runs the gas turbine starter in the APU mode, providing auxiliary generator power while the engine itself isn't operating. If you start the engine with the APU on it will again automatically shut the GTS/APU off once the engine is started. It's not a cheat, it's just happening in the background. olivier-gaming Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 in the NATOPS during the landings it is written that we must engage the APU in case there is an engine failure. Is it functional please?
ChickenSim Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 The APU is functioning, yes. From memory you don't need to engage it for all landings just those conducted under IFR/night conditions so that in the event of an electrical power failure in the main generator the APU will pick up the load and power otherwise non-essential systems such as cockpit lighting and navigation aids. A full blown engine failure has only one solution: Eject. "It is also true that we parted ways with Chicken after some disagreements."
