hideki2 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Hello! As I don't have access to the actual aircraft I have a question or two about the radar stick behavior in Viggen. 1) Shouldn't the cross movement on the radar screen be analog(In way point edit mode T1)? The RB75 uses the radar stick and is analog. However the cross on the radar screen behaves in a digital way. 2) Does the trigger on the radar stick default to the T0 when released? Or is it a concession made to fit the controls to the TM warthog's throttle? When it is assigned to a joystick with a 3 stage trigger (on off on) You lose the lock if you release trigger and move your hand to the throttle. This is a problem when locking on to an bandit in IR air to air mode forcing you to hold the trigger in while using weapons. I know that Viggen was not the most ergonomic aircraft ever, but this seems very suspiciously non sense to me for a Swedish super no nonsense aircraft .
some1 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 1. Probably it should, now you can't even move it diagonally. I reported it more than a year ago... 2. The way I understand it, the trigger returns to T0 when released. However, the whole A2A functionality is strange, haven't wrapped my head around it. Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

You can lock radar on to a bandit and release a sidewinder without growl and it will hit the mark. I have no idea how that is plausible but it works.

hideki2 Posted September 11, 2018 Author Posted September 11, 2018 No you can use the radar for rangeing but you can not lock the target. I'ts not what I have experienced so far. But also does not really touch my point in the first post. Anyway my experience in Beachhead intrediction quick mission is that when trying to take down the Hips its quite hard to get the growl unless you are precisely behind them. But if i lock my radar on to them by t1 and launch the missile without the growl it hits the hip every time.

Interesting, that doesn't sound like the expected behaviour at all though since as others have said the AJS radar (PS-37/A) isn't able to "lock" onto air targets to provide target information to the missiles, it's really a ground/recognisance radar that was able to look up slightly for ranging. Afaik, it should only able to range the targets for you to determine if you are within missile range. :joystick: Edited September 12, 2018 by RaXha

It locks to an infrared source mid-flight. Sorry If I created any confusion.
