Is there a way to dramatically reduce the size of a particular picture but it would only slightly reduce the quality. I'm trying to put a background on a website and the resolution is high, so is the size. I don't want to resize it, just reduce the size with little loss to quality. Is there a way to do that in photoshop? I've tried converting it to gif, but the color quality got reduced. Any suggestions would be useful. I posted this question here because some people may find it useful for sig rules as well.

Use irfan view.

For JPEG use image quality from 60% to 90%.

I'm also interested in this too since my sig recently got removed and i now the quality sucks. Is the Infran view an addon to photoshop or just a standalone program?

Yea i used the slider thing until the size was below 50 kb, but sadly i was already in the low section, that's why my sig is kinda pixalated.

Your sig is only 14kb that's why its so pixelated.. try turnning it up to at least 40kb and it should look pretty sharp.

Try imageshack instead.. its hassle free and you never get any issues with file size.
