danny875 Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I’m not sure yet as I need to reverse the test so I will amend this post when I have. Since I got a Rift a few weeks ago I have been plagued by constant DCS crashes on PG, Nevada and Caucuses with the F/A18. The longest flight I managed was about 55 mins but most would crash within 20 mins or less. One of the Windows events was AudioDG crashing so I decided to use my old USB headphones instead of the Rift audio which I disabled. Since then I have not had a crash and managed several flights of more than 2 hours! Like I said at the top I will re-use the Rift audio tonight and see what happens... Has anyone else experienced this? Cheers Dan
toutenglisse Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Hi! Yep I had issue with Rift's headphones. But less dramatic. I was, with DCS mostly, loosing the sound after a while (instead of crashing like you). Zero problems with a separate headphone. I ended finding it happend with Rift's headphones when I used all my usb ports (with DCS it's the case…) but peculary the front extended usb ports. If nothing is plugged in front usb ports I have no issue with Rift's headphone.
danny875 Posted November 19, 2018 Author Posted November 19, 2018 Hi, yeah I don’t seem to have loss of audio but I have read that on the forum before. I have a pretty old MB and all my USB ports are used (3x USB3 and a bunch of USB 2?). I also have to use a non powered hub for my TMWH stick and button box attached via front panel. Not ideal and I plan to upgrade very soon. Specs are z77 MB with 16GB of RAM, 3570k@4.0 (most crashes were @3.4), 1080, 500GB SSD..
danny875 Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 Nope, at least I’ve now switched back to Rift audio and all is good. Can’t explain why I don’t have crashes anymore but I’m really happy about it!
