Colored Smoke on a target

I would like to have some colored smoke close to a target for maverick practice as I have a hard time seeing the targets. Unfortunately, I am a novice with the ME so I would appreciate if someone would provide me with a simple step by step method to do so.

Use either of 2 trigger actions: Create a trigger then 1. Create a zone and use SMOKE MARKER or 2. use SMOKE ON UNIT.

Bear in mind smoke stops after 5 minutes, so you may need subsequent triggers with condition TIME MORE (300), then repeat the smoke trigger actions.
