Flappie Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) Hi Bunyap. I've just flown mission 4 for the first time, and I failed: I got shot by the SA-10 around waypoint B4. We were all doing well. I saw Pontiac releasing his many CALCMs. He said later on that his mission was a success, which made me confident. Soon, both an Eagle and a Hornet got shot (SA-19, I believe) from what I've read in the log. Then, just as my group and Dodge-2 were passing WP4, it was my turn to get locked then shot. The log says it was the SA-10 site. My music was on since waypoint B3 ("B" + "G") and I was actively releasing flares and chaffs. Can you please tell me : a/ If the SA-10 site is supposed to be unharmed at around 0920? b/ If my jamming settings were correct? Edited November 25, 2018 by Flappie ---
Bunyap Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Hi Flappie, I just ran it and everything is still working as intended. It sounds like you may have been slightly early at the target. The Hornets target the SA-10 at around 0920. How long it all takes is intended to be a little random to give the player something to think about and decisions to make, but I have never seen it not go down. You might check the top of briefing page 15 for a recap of how it is planned: "Approaching the FEBA, we will fence in and descend to 100 meters AGL. Time on target is planned for 0926 but anything within a 0926-0936 window will allow us to hit the target with adequate SEAD and CAP support from the rest of the package. Springfield flights (F/A-18C) will be targeting known SA-10s and SA-15s operating southwest of bullseye. Monitor RWR and comms regarding this threat. The Dodge flight leads will make the decision to press on with the attack or hold between Belted and Quartzite based on a real time read of the situation." There is a small chance you will still have to deal with the SA-15s but it sounds like you have a good grasp on ECM and countermeasures. You were either very, very unlucky or were a little too early. It sounds like you know the Viggen very well but here are some tips for anybody else who happens along: Time on Target: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3375174&postcount=12 SAM Avoidance: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200157
Flappie Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 Thanks a lot! I didn't know much how to use the TID display. So far, I've been using the F10 menu clock, since the Viggen's clock still isn't operational. I knew I had this 10 minutes window, but I thought I was very late. I guess the TID will help me a lot. I'll retry then get back here to debrief. ---
Flappie Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 It worked just fine. Thanks again. :) ---
