RackMonkey Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 No matter what I do I can't read the MFD's unless I zoom in so that my nose is 6" from the virtual screen of the MFD. I've got a 1060 video card and a 1920 X 1080 monitor. I can read all of the static labels in the cockpit. I've bumped my setting up and down to try and get it readable at some setting but it's the same blur no matter what I do. I'm going to borrow a friends 42" 4K monitor this weekend but if the problem is in the programming that won't help. Gigabyte X670, 7800 X3D, 2X1TB NvME, RTX4090, 32GB DDR5 , Pimax Crystal
Deano87 Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 It’s been a long standing issue for the Hornet I’m afraid. There are some mods out there to help solve the problem but last time I checked they broke the JHMCS although that might have changed. DDSSTT Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 no, it kinda breaks the HMD... decreasing the blurriness and sharpening the HUD/DDIs also decreases the visual clarity of the HMD... You can still mess with the "DMC" values in the MDG_strokesDefs.lua to make it easier to read the text on the AMPCD though, but if you want a sharp crisp DDIs and HUD you will have to live with a hard to read HMD... I am still looking at ways to change it but so far no luck. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.csg-2.net/
Sustoja Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Fixed the blurry fonts in MFD and HUD following RightStuff's advice from this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3555460&postcount=117 I just edited "MDG_strokesDefs.lua" file and reduced the values in its first two lines: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\Common\indicator\MDG_strokesDefs.lua Before: stroke_thickness = 0.8 stroke_fuzziness = 0.5 After: stroke_thickness = 0.4 stroke_fuzziness = 0.2
ShadowVonChadwick Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Currently using (see below) Seems like a reasonable compromise on a 1260x2490 two monitor setup stroke_thickness = 0.4 --0.8 stroke_fuzziness = 0.3 --0.5 -- Currently is used for DMC generated fonts black outline DMC_outline_thickness = stroke_thickness * 3 DMC_outline_fuzziness = stroke_fuzziness * 1.1 DMC_stroke_thickness = 0.45 --0.65 DMC_stroke_fuzziness = 0.25 --0.42 RyZen5 3600x, MSI GamingX RX 5700xt, AX-370-K7, 16 Gig G-Skil 3200 , Antec 650w (Still),Win10 on 256G 870 NVMe, 860+850 Evo for Apps, 2x1TB WD HDs for :music_whistling:, TR5 :detective:, Hog stick:joystick:, 3x TM MFD Bezels. a 32" AOC, @ 2560x1440, no floppy & a crappy chair :pain:. RackMonkey Posted December 2, 2018 Author Posted December 2, 2018 Thanks guys I spotted the post by Donkey after I put mine up. I tried some of the suggestions and got it a little clearer. I'm going to try everybody's setting to see how they work. I think some of it might be size. With my 3 22" monitor the MFD's are smaller than actual size, that might be contributing to the problem of reading them. I think I'll try the 3 camera setup and see what happens.
