I'm sure the A-10C folk have done this, but I've found a lot of money in hunting laterally with the TPOD.

Think of flying to the left of a long island, and looking down and to your right at the island, scanning for targets. When you find one, you roll in.

It can be challenging to keep SA in this approach in terms of where you are looking.

Although I'm effective this way, I'd love to see a "How to hunt" tutorial on this to pick up some finer points.

I also don't think all the TPOD symbology has ever been explained. For instance, in the A-10C, you know exactly where the tgp is looking; you can see it on the map.

Is something like this possible in the Harrier?

I always do the same - get close to the target area then cruise up & down scanning from the side.

You can see where the TPOD is looking on the EHSD - there's a small diamond (iirc). Until the slave function is implemented/fixed you can use it to slew the pod over waypoints or wherever.
