Rex854Warrior Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Hello, I've encountered a couple of issues with the AACQ mode, an extract from the DCS : F/A-18C manual : Pressing the Sensor Control Switch to the right when the TDC is already assigned to it will place the RADAR in Auto Acquisition (AACQ) mode. If the TDC if over a target symbol when AACQ is commanded, it will instruct the RADAR to lock on to that target. If AACQ is pressed with no target symbol under the acquisition symbol, then the RADAR will attempt to lock on to the closest target within the selected RADAR scan volume. So If I place my TDC over a radar plot, it will lock automatically instead of pressing the TDC and having a hard time locking this target, and if the TDC is not over any plots it will lock the CLOSEST aircraft in the scanned volume, so the closest aircraft detected relative to you. But from my experience, when the TDC is not over any plots and AACQ is used, it will randomly lock an aircraft from multiples detected even if they are sometimes out of the scope. Track attached, 5 M-2000C in front of me at different aspects, all at the same altitude and speed. Hopefully you can figure it out because AACQ is not very reliable in this scenario of "panic locking", failed me alot of times where I would have a bandit detected very close and it just locks something that was out of my scope (but still detected) 50 miles away. Manuel_108 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Yeah something is wrong. I tried it with 4 Mig-23 at the same altitude flying towards me at various distances. It always seems to pick the one which is the farthest away from me.
Rex854Warrior Posted December 11, 2018 Author Posted December 11, 2018 Would be nice for this to not be left behind. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Buckeye Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 It is definitely still bugged a bit, but I assume it's known as the radar on the whole is still a massive WIP. Razgriz Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Hopefully this can get fixed quickly. AACQ should be great for panic locking the closest target, right now it only gets you into a deeper hole as you lock someone ~30nm out
