captflyby Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I purchased some GearVR lenses for my HTC Vive. SO MANY saying it was the best ever. Tried all their supposed fixes and NOTHING seems to fix the unbelievable barrel distortion that makes the headset unusable. Has anyone tried this successfully. I you have, I would be very interested in knowing what you did to correct the distortion. The non-distorted area of view is amazingly clear.

captflyby Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 followed step by step. Noticed that before the mod, with the gearvr lenses, some of their games were unusable, as is my DCS. After their mod, better, but not the same as the fresenal lens - dead flat. Same results I got.

(larger more spherical side up?) my gear vr lenses came installed in printed 3d brackets for install. You can get them left to right confused, but made sure the rounded side was facing out to the eyeball. Center of the image is fantastic, but the outer edges if all combined amount to more than 1/2 of the screen view. Edge distortions still there even with the mod, even with the rounded part out. Guess it is just my eyes.
