jdhigby Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I had to reinstall windows XP, SP1. I am now trying to install the original version of Lockon Modern Air Combat, and it fails during the unpacking of the sounds files with E:\util\deogg.exe "abnormal program termination." Any ideas would be appreciated. Windows XP, SP1 Dell Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz. 768 megabytes of RAM ATI Radeon 9250 (256 meg memory) 40 gig HD.

sp0nge Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Try patch up after installation. and check your CD for scratches.. <<- Definitely do that - Could be a smudge, just give it a clean anyway. Not TOO rough ;) Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Not TOO rough ;) I think what he is saying is that he cannot install it becuase it will not unpack off the cd right. If he has checked for scratches i am betting the disc is a waste and it needs to be replaced. I dont know if you can return it for a new one through where you bought it, ED, or whatever.
sp0nge Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 In the UBI forums there was the same error when unpacking sounds, it was a simple smudge. Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Silent Warrior Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 On the off chance that the installation as a whole isn't aborted and removed, I suppose it's merely a matter of finding an ogg-decoder and turn the files back into .wavs... but it HAS been a fairly long time since I last met an installer that didn't clean up after itself. Bad manners, actually, leaving things around, but sometimes you won't really mind.
