BlueJacketWarrior Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) I was wondering if there are any known issues with steam users trying to play with stand alone users. I am trying to join a Virtual Squadron and they all use the stand alone. Edited January 29, 2019 by BlueJacketWarrior Making it ledgible
BlueJacketWarrior Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 Edited so its actually understandable.
Repth Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 As long as you are running the same version of DCS as the rest of the squadron you should not have any issues. The only thing that might hold you back is the occasional lag between updates. They usually go live in the standalone before they do steam. Lately though it looks like they are pretty close in releasing in tandem, but you might have to wait a day or two.
xvii-Dietrich Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Our squad has a mix of Steam and Stand-alone users and we fly on the same servers without any problems. These days, the updates to both are invariably well synchronised. One thing that you might need to bear in mind though, is that some servers run the Open Beta and others run the Stable version. If you want to run the beta, go to Steam -> DCS -> Properties -> Betas and select "Openbeta - public beta versions". You will then need to restart Steam, and wait for it to pick up the beta version (there will be a Steam DCS download).
