  1. If the goal is a world map and they have a team ready to do Australia, then why wait? You may not be excited but, I bet the Australian fan base is extactic to have a map they can relate too.
  2. Give it some time. There are two more regions we need to cover the whole area. Turkey/Armenia/Azerbaijan and Iraq and northern Iran. That is every major conflict covered in the area since the late 50's. It also fits great into ED'S world map plans.
  3. I'd be more than happy with a decent base of AI assets for now, even with the limited capabilities that they have. If someone wanted to take on the underwater environment later on then that we be amazing too.
  4. With the recent announcement of the Kola Peninsula map made, It would be nice to see some cold war naval assets added to the game from both NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Especially the respective submarine fleets that operated in the area. The Kilo and Type 93 just won't cut it for Naval warfare here.
  5. Ctrl+F11 is your free camera option fyi. Pressing that combo will activate the free camera from any position you are in, including following aircraft, ships, ground vehicles, etc. You can control its movement by the mouse wheel or if you prefer more control, by using the arrow keys. Holding shift while using the arrow keys will speed up the camera movement.
  6. First place to start is removing any mods you have installed (if any) and running a repair. If that fixes it and you do use Mods, then slowly reintroduce them until you get the issue again. That will help you track down the cause. If you prefer using mods while running DCS I would recommend a mod manager to avoid this issue in the future.
  7. If the stick works the same as the nub, try getting rid of the curves and adjust the y saturation on both axis' down to the 25-30 range and see how that feels.
  8. I'm with you Lurker. While I might eventually buy the F-4 somewhere down the line in the far future. I would have gladly bought an F-111 day one.
  9. Check to see if the historical filter is highlighted at the bottom of the editor screen. Looks like a clock. If it is and your mission date isn't set up for the time period it will block the tomcat from being available.
  10. I'll have to take your word for it then Grimes, but I distinctly remember this being an option usable for aircraft. I used it all the time, specifically to avoid having to use triggers for something as easy as a start time for a group or single aircraft without it magicking itself into existence. I guess i'll just have to accept the extra headache involved in dealing with triggers. Thx.
  11. When did that change? Aircraft used to have the same option. It was so much easier to set a start time and click a check box than messing around with triggers. Very disappointed if that was removed. It complicates things way more than needed.
  12. Where has this option gone? My airfields are starting to look mighty sparse until everyone teleports into existence...
  13. I can't remember their exact names right now but there is a "general" blue and red coalition that do exactly this. Combined Task Force Red and Blue I believe. Should include all assets currently available in the sim.
  14. In this case no, It doesn't require any of the newer cards. That's the beauty of it. Since it's already pre-calculated it doesn't rely on real time ray tracing technology at all. It gives the look and feel of ray tracing without the performance overhead.
  15. The reflections are still there. ED introduced a new technology with the update to 2.7 called predictive ray tracing. It essentially allows the sim to pre calculate when a reflection should be shown based on a couple of different factors. So, no more permanent baked on reflections unless the right lighting conditions are met to allow the reflection to be seen.
  16. Rudder pedals are definitely not required. They are, however, highly recommended if you plan to put any large amount of time into helo's in DCS. They will save you some very sore wrists in the long run. If you decide to go that route, you don't really need anything fancy. I use a cheap pair of pedals from Thrustmaster and they get the job done. I think they cost me maybe $60.00 usd. Had them for years now.
  17. Purchased modules can only be transferred from Steam to standalone, not the other way around.
  18. They can be. Random failures are an option if one chooses to enable them. For the aircraft that have them you can even set the probability that the failure will occur. Even without them enabled, some people will still go thru the checklist and run checks because they like to simulate it. It's nice to see it work properly for those who decide to take the time to do so.
  19. BSOD indicates a hardware issue. A quick google search on the DPC Watchdog Violation error indicates it's most likely a driver causing the issue. Are your drivers up to date? Is Windows up to date?
  20. Check your trim. The a-10 requires constant trimming since it is not fly by wire. More than likely your load out is not symmetrical causing the slow turn to the left or your trim is offset to the left. Also make sure your not applying pressure to your left rudder pedal. That can also cause a slight roll.

    April Fools!

I hadn't had a chance since I'm at work, thanks for that! Saved me some time searching for it

    April Fools!

They got a lot of hate last year for that one, wouldn't be surprised if they went with something more subtle this year.
  23. Depends on your style of play. If this is mostly about competitive MP, then yes, for some that can be an issue. We have to remember though, that there are several play styles associated with DCS. Everyone has to start somewhere to learn. I mainly fall into the "view DCS as a sim" side of things and in my group I can usually have someone with no experience air refueling connecting to the boom or drogue in about an hour. We then incorporate it into our missions to get in some practice time. It takes patience and a lot of support but eventually it clicks. It's always rewarding to see the sense of accomplishment they get from making their first full transfer without a disconnect and they have every right to be proud of that. Since that is not an option for everyone, I'm all for a training aide. No magical transfer of fuel though and it should be a sever side option. We already know that ED have plans to adjust tanker physics with their new S-3 model, they can tack the task on there so that they don't take resources away from any other projects they are working on. I might make an attempt at a training mission
