alboon2000 Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 (edited) Hi, First of all, this is an amazing campaign that you created, BD. Thank you! I have a question regarding mission 7 : at some point we are given coordinates for spotting trucks, Tequila,... But if I rely on them, they show a point in the shadow. At first I thought there was a vehicle hidden in the dark (I play in VR so ground targets are difficult to find) but obviously that's not the case. I know there is the INS drift to take into account, but are we supposed to align the INS in-flight? The other answer would be, I'm afraid, that these coordinates are less useful than expected? It adds realism that's true, but when I decided to play the mission again I admit I didn't even try to create a wpt 9. Another question : are we supposed to fight aircraft after ground units are destroyed? Indeed, when tequila was 100% destroyed I had enemy planes coming, but when tequila was partially destroyed (I don't remember the exact terms), the F5 didn't show. I decided then to move to the next mission, although I could have had more points :) Edited February 4, 2019 by alboon2000
baltic_dragon Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Hey! Glad you're enjoying the campaign. So, as for Tequila: this is your main objective, it is more or less under your WP 4. They should be lit by the flares dropped by the F-15E and even if they are not, you should be able to tell where they are by comparing the location with the recon photos from your kneeboard. The coordinates are OK - one thing that comes to my mind which has been reported before, do you use manual INS alignment or the automatic one? The automatic gives wrong results and is not advised. As for the aircraft - you only have guns, so you can try it, but should rather RTB and leave fighting to the CAP :) Hope this helps! For more information, please visit my website. alboon2000 Posted February 5, 2019 Author Posted February 5, 2019 Hi! I use manual alignment. And still, the coordinates of tequila point somewhere in the ground where the flares almost don't illuminate anything. It's not that far from the illuminated scene, but definitely not over Tequila. Maybe it's because I start my engine before alignment is complete? Envoyé de mon ONEPLUS A6013 en utilisant Tapatalk

Envoyé de mon ONEPLUS A6013 en utilisant Tapatalk Hi, your correct regarding the coords given; Trucks n35.34.71 w116.11.85 and n37.34.81 w116.11.95 Command vehicles n37.34.86 w116.11.74 I have just flown this mission. I inputted the command vehicles as new WP #4. The target cross in the HUD is definitely south of the illuminated zone and close to the civilian town of Adhen. If you align the INS manually with the full 8 minutes alignment, (parking brake on, wait for alignment to finish before moving the aircraft) all the waypoints should be correct. However the target coords are interpreted by the Mirage's INS as being slightly south. I don't think its INS drift, since we have only been flying for 30 minutes or so, before we attack. I think its just a glitch in the Mirage's HUD targeting symbology not getting accurate input from the INS? With this mission, I look at the recce photos and the small group of command trucks are located north of the targets and north of where the river divides into two. You should see Chevy 8 bomb the vehicles and your job is to mop up the remaining vehicles. I ran out of rockets this time, so strafed the couple of remaining vehicles. To be honest, Chevy 7/8 should do the job for you, provided you have sent in the SEAD flight first! Recommend you look at the mission in Tacview, its amazing what goes on! Hope that helps a bit. The enemy fighters are best left to our escort. If you get distracted and take them on, you will get short of fuel rather quickly.
