I’m using the Rift and flying the A-10C with most graphics options turned up to the max, mostly through NVIDIA’s options.

I’m not sure how exactly to describe it, but everything looks really great (and frame rate is solid at 45) except for the tips of the sidewinders when I look off to my right side. They seem to shimmer, or be slightly translucent. The edges sort of flicker. I can’t pin down which setting to play with to fix this. If you do offer a suggestion, please let me know if you’ve actually experienced the same thing or are simply taking your best guess. Both options are welcome, but I’ll obviously try one out before the other.

Perhaps it’s not even a setting, perhaps it is a bug or just simply because the Sidewinders were not created for VR and there’s no fix for this yet.

I’m clueless. Again, it seems to be only the tips of those weapons; all else looks great and is easy to see and read. Thanks in advance.

Id try turning of fxaa on it makes things blurrier. Try msaa 2x or 4x if you can. And up PD if you can.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

Ok, turning FXAA off for the next attempt.

Which one is MSAA? That's not listed anywhere unless it's known as something else. See my list above, which I copied from the options I was presented with.

Thanks for the reply.

So I put MSAA at 4x and I as getting around 32 FPS. Reduced to 2x and back up to 45.

Tried increasing PD from 1.3 to 1.5, but it killed the frame rate again, so I started eliminating trees and grass, but still couldn’t get 45 FPS. Tried 1.4 but it still didn’t do it. Back to 1.3 and it’s smooth. Low level flying at tree tops knocks FPS down to mid 30’s

I went even lower with PD to 1.2 and didn’t notice much difference in clarity, but frame rate is great for VR even at tree top level.

I couldn’t fix the shimmer with any option. It’s mostly when I’m flying low and there is background moving quickly behind the forward fins of the sidewinder where I see the issues. I’m just going to leave it alone for now. Tired of testing.

Question though, should I be using the Nvidia settings to override game settings, or use in-game settings only? Is antialiasing different whether enable in game vs through nvidia?

ASW OFF is the solution, but this can lead to strange effects in the cabin if you have less than 45 fps, at least for me...

Use left control + numpad 1, 2, 3 or 4, for desactive, limit to 45fps asw out or limit 45fps wint asw on or asw in automatic mode, respectively.

100% ASW will cause shimmering I never touched Nivida setting when I had VR.
