Biga42 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 When calling ATC for landing, and e.g it says "cleared to Land at RWY 060", After set the Tacan, I set the course to 060. But approaching the Carrier realized that the RWy was far from 060. How to set the correct course to the Carrier RWY. Thanks!
Tholozor Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 (edited) Don't listen to the ATC when he gives out runway headings for the carrier, it's not set up to work like that (we'll be getting proper radio procedures for carrier recovery in the future). If you're performing a Case I approach, the TACAN should be set to the carrier's BRC (ship's heading), if you're doing a Case III or a straight-in, the TACAN should be set to the bearing of the angled deck (final bearing) which is about 8~9° counter-clockwise of the ship's heading. If the carrier's heading isn't given in your mission's briefing, check the F10 map for the carrier's heading (if the F10 map options don't allow you to see allied units, you're a bit SOL).
